Outstanding beer selection (huge) and locally owned. They also have special lighting that keeps from skunking up beer...a very important factor in making sure the beer tastes as originally intended by the brewer. (The entire store has this lighting so it applies to wines and spirits as well.)
If you really want to support local liquor stores, shop at The Wine and Cheese Place, The Wine Merchant or smaller neighborhood stores over Lukas.
Always a friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Great customer experience. Their selection is the best in Stl. Locally & independent ownership. I personally go for beer, but their spirits and wine selection is huge. Their prices are fair, usually $1 or $2 cheaper. Cleanliness and organization of everything is impressive too! These people complaining giving 1 star reviews are upset because they didn't get their bottle of Pappy that they couldn't resell for twice the price. Don't listen to them. Lukas is great!!
Nice selection of keg beer in stock! Both 1/6 & 1/4 barrels. Plenty of parking. Wide open, warehouse style shopping. Affordable.
Do you like being lied to? How about supporting a business built on the owner's promise to be all about the local market while at the same time selling most of his allocated whiskey through a special website for only out of state customers at 8-10x MSRP?
We went in asking for specialty bourbon. They said they had it but wouldn't sell to us. They didn't say they had low stock and regular customers had reserved what they had. Yhey didny offer any explanation. Just that they wouldn't sell to us. Just a salesman saying other customers pay his salary, contradicting their claim that they won't bait and switch and that they don't work on commission. I'll shop elsewhere from now on.
Gary (the owner) is a liar and a fraud. He claims to be about St. Louis, but that's just marketing. Ultimately he's about $$$ first, whether it hurts the local market and his long time customers or not.
