Another big sloppy delicious burger at 5 Guys. Food here is always great, service is as quick as can be expected when they are custom making your food and the prices are only a little bit High. If you want quality, you have to pay for it, and while I don't go to Five Guys every week, when I do go I know I'm going to pay a little more for something a little better than at other burger joints.
Fast forward to today. I even asked the Manager to have my fries "dropped on the press." Five Guys Standard is to put the fries in the fryer when the burger patty is being flipped over the first time and pressed down to level it out. However, based upon my observations, this was not done. There was only one other person there and he was already eating.
Beyond the burgers are the incredible fries, which I could eat as a meal all by themselves. It's very difficult to find a better Burger and Fries combo in St Louis then there is at Five Guys.
When I got my food, it took almost 9 minutes, which is better but still outside of the Five Guys Standard of less than 8 minutes, made even worse when I point you back to my previous comment about how many people were there. When I checked my fries, they were not crispy at all. They ranged from slightly undercooked to obviously undercooked, not having that crispy outside and soft inside that a Five Guys fry should have.
It's hit or miss here. When they put the effort in the food is delicious and fresh, but that doesn't always happen. It's also a little pricey for what you get. Overall a pretty good burger and fries though.
I need to preface this by stating that I have previously worked at Five Guys for almost a year. My criticisms are based upon that knowledge of how a Five Guys should be.
Love it they cook everything in peanut oil and I'm deadly allergic to peanuts 10/10 would recommend good Christan family fun.
Five Guys has good food ... when they make it the way Five Guys says that they should. Burgers that take 7 minutes to turn into a juicy, well-done burger. Fries that are hot and crispy from being twice fried. But this location, and several all Saint Louis locations, do not make it by that standard. I got a subpar product from a business that has served me better.
I have been to this Five Guys on two recent occasions and neither one of my experiences were all that great. The first time was about a month ago. My fries were not crispy like they should be, my burger was still a little pink in the middle, like it shouldn't be, and it took about 16 minutes when there was only 5 people in front of me.
The burger was burnt, dry and flavorless, they don't season the beef. I ordered it with grilled onions and they did nothing to add flavor. The fries were hard. I can't think of one reason why they charge 8 bucks for a burger. My family of 5 spent $55 for burgers and fries. We could have went to a real restaurant spent a few bucks more and had real food.
